Unemployment in an economy is measured by the unemployment rate, which measures the proportion of the labour force that is not employed but actively seeking work. The Labour Force People who are 15 or over who are employed in full or part-time work and those who are actively seeking employment People who are not in the labour force include full-time students, people who perform domestic duties, people who have retired and unemployed persons not actively seeking employment.
